Writing to you a day or so late after a very busy week and weekend. Coffee in hand with a moment to think. The park is dripping in rain and I’ve got a bit of time alone before heading to my bookselling job.
I’ve been thinking about a big change I made during the early process of writing my first manuscript. I moved from poetry to prose, or somewhere in-between.
So, what follows is a short piece on what happens when we make big changes during a writing process. It’s also about how hybrid forms hint at the researching and drafting processes that drive us writers.
And here we are in another threshold space. This time between forms.
So, this week I’m writing about the space between poetry and prose; both in process and ‘finished’ writing. What follows is a short reflection on my own process that (I hope) opens some questions on what changes you’ve seen during writing processes.
It’s about how hybrid forms hint at the researching and drafting processes that drive us as writers. I’m also going to talk about fungi and rhizomes. Yes, fungi and rhizomes. I love them.
